Pediatric Speech Therapy in West Des Moines, Iowa

​Sea Lion Speech Therapy offers traditional speech therapy services for children and young adults ages 5–18 in West Des Moines, Iowa and online in Colorado and Washington. We provide individualized therapy for speech sound disorders, expressive and receptive language difficulties, alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), and literacy-related language skills.  ​Speech therapy sessions are tailored to each child’s needs and are grounded in evidence-based practice. We collaborate with families to support communication skills that impact academic success, social interaction, and confidence.
Speech therapy starts with a game plan
Let's start by identifying strengths and challenges with an individualized speech and language evaluation.  First, we will look at how your child uses their sound system to be understood.  Effective communicators also need great grammar, vocabulary, storytelling, and social skills to meet their needs and connect with others.

Pediatric Speech Therapy
PROMPT 
  • PROMPT is most known for being a tactile-kinesthetic (touch and feel) approach where an SLP places his/her hands on the client's face to guide his/her jaw, lips, and tongue to move correctly to form words.
Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC) 
  • DTTC is a Childhood Apraxia of Speech treatment approach based on motor learning 
​Minimal Pair & Maximal Pair Training
  • A treatment program for mild-moderate speech sound disorders where the error is contrasted with the target sound (ex: key vs tea)
